Julia recently finished a critically acclaimed run as Jenna in The Grand Theatre & Theatre Aquarius’ production of Waitress.
“McLellan is a commanding presence on the stage and she will move you to tears with the musical’s most emotionally charged number, “She Used to Be Mine.”
Meredith MacLeod, Hamilton City Magasine
“The vocal range and runs of lead actress Julia McLellan, who played Jenna, were outstanding. This kind of vocal performance is uncommon in musical theatre…”
Kayla Foisy, The Gazette
“You could have heard a pin drop when Julia McLellan delivered She Used to Be Mine in the second act… It was beautiful, deeply moving, and mesmerizing—one of those performances that lingers with you long after the curtain falls.”
Margarita Ibbott, Downshifting Pro
"In a brilliantly self-aware performance McLellan delivers this sexist material while commenting ironically on it: she sees the patriarchy for what it is and is beating it at its own game. McLellan is (pardon the expression) the full package: a great singer, dancer and actor who justly earned the biggest cheer from the opening-night crowd."
Karen Fricker, Toronto Star
"Just like the ray-of-sunshine Parton, Julia McLellan is fantastic as Dora-Lee... McLellan is a dynamite singer and wonderful as the iconic Dora-Lee--bringing toughness and tenderness together in a great performance...McLellan feels like the joyful guiding force of the trio--as much a ray of sunshine in her performance as Dolly herself.
Lucy Haines, Alberta Prime Times
"Julia McLellan's Persephone, had just the right amount of spunk and spirited rebelliousness, with a great big voice that reaches the heavens."
Noelle Hannibal, Broadway World Montreal
